For this award, we combined thick glass and metal. Glass — to form divergent rays as a metaphor for impact, metal — to enhance the architecture and contrast of textures.
During the development with 3D printing, we created about ten prototypes to see what the solution would look like in practice. The glass “rays” were to enter the holes of the base at a defined angle, and it was important to develop a model that could then be embodied in metal.
The challenge was to create super-precise holes in the stainless steel base and secure the glass elements in those holes.
This was done with the help of professional equipment, attracting contractors. Engraving was applied to the steel plates.
