For the "Liudyna u Viysku" ("A Person in the Army") conference, the POLE team produced special commemorative awards.

The award consists of two parts: a massive base made using the Roman concrete technique, and a disc of durable stainless steel.

We first made the base in a rectangular mould, into which a special mixture was tamped down using the Roman concrete technique. Fragments of brick from a destroyed building in Kharkiv were added to the mix. We use this approach to repurpose construction waste, but in this case, the solution also carried symbolic meaning for the client.

What sets Roman concrete apart is its exceptional strength and durability, making it far more resilient than ordinary brick or concrete. The award's base was painted a dark color.

The second part of the award is a perfectly polished disc of durable stainless steel, finished with laser engraving.
